Post subject: webi multivalue errors with detail objects

Have I just found a bug? Running a simple report in XIr2 webi with four objects - 2 dimensions and 2 details. No measure objects. No headers, footers or fancy queries. In webi, I get multivalue errors in some of the detail cells in the report. Exact report runs fine in deski. If I cut and paste SQL it runs fine in Oracle 10g. I know that the data in the multivalue cells is unique in each row as I can see it in the source system. Makes no difference if I check/uncheck the "Return Duplicate Rows" (which is what I'd expect as there are no duplicate rows).

When I changed the detail objects to dimension objects, the report runs fine! However the data panel on the left still shows the objects as green triangles, even though the query panel correctly shows them as blue squares.

We are up to date in patches/hotfixes etc, so I can only assume this is another bug as there seem to be a lot of multivalue errors with webi in previous hotfix documentation.

Hope this is useful to somebody to save them wasting a day like I've just done!

Assuming you have resolved this..... I ran into the same problem... I changed the object in the report from a detail to a dimension and that resolved the issue.. Hoping someone (?) else has a more reliable answer as this shouldn't be occurring (BUG).

try creating it at the report level.

Still causing me problems. Have had to change all my detail objects to dimensions, which makes it hard to categorise objects. It would be really useful to be able to have subdirectories and a proper tree structure for objects. Have raised this with Business Objects but they need an example. Haven't yet had chance to design a working model of the problem as security issues prevent me sending actual examples of the problem.

Hello, I also have this problem with the #multivalue, and it seems that BO doesnīt consider this as an issue, so I have to solve the problem on my side.

so, it seems that the only solution to solve this is changing the details to dimension, right?? Did any of you have found another solution for this?

Because I agree with Debbie, itīs harder to categorize the objects.

I have observed the same inconsistency with the detail objects in XIr2. For some reason detail objects behave differently than Dimensions (at a report level). One example is when you have 1 dimension and 2 details in a table where the dimension value is constant whereas the detail values are different , the detail objects show a #multivalue error. It attempts to rollup like a measure , but it cant because its not numeric ... these problems are new to XI and did not exist in 6.5

Hi,

I'm running into a similar problem:

My data is composed of Cases linked with CR (the relation is many to many).

So I want to create a query that returns me a set of Cases with their related CR. But I need multiple dataproviders all linked by the Case id. So I was planning on creating a detail object based on the CR id, and to display this detail object. But when I do that, I'm getting a #multivalue in Webi Xi/R2.

In other word, if I have a detail var called [CR detail] which is based on the dimension [CR ID], and use [Case ID] as the associated dimension,. If I display [Case ID] and [CR detail] in the same table, I get a list of my case, with a column full of #multivalue.

I'm getting the proper value when using this setup in Deski Xi/R2, or Deski 5.1.8 (we are migrating out of 518 into boxi, so I have both system available for now).

How can I use detail objects when there is a many to many relationship ?

Hi

XIR2 webi supports only one to one relation between dimension and detail, where as 6x will support one-many.If u run the report with multi detail objects for one dimension then u will get multivalue error.

You can try by Checking the box
Avoid Duplicate Row Aggregation

did it works for anyone?

so how do you deal with multi-dp report now in x1r2 ?

like in my case, how do you bring the CR id into a report based on the case ?

I'm using Boxi R2. Is that fixed in R3 for Webi?

I think this problem gets solved with FP 4.2 on XI R2. Wrap the detail object in a dimension and use it.

Check if this helps you...
