I understand from mail that you face some issues while installing BOEXI R1.

Please understand that the error messages appear because the installer is detecting references of another version of the product in the registry or file system

To resolve this do the following:

It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the registry files before you edit the registry. In regedit, click My Computer > Export Registry File, make sure 'All' is selected, provide a file name, choose a location, and click 'Save'.


1. Copy the ClassID listed in the install log. In this case {B9BD215E-1BCF-499C-9161-50FC8994730B}.

2. Go to Start > Run, type "regedit", click Edit > Find, paste the ClassID into the 'Find What' text box, and click 'Find Next'.

3. Right-click the found registry key, click 'Delete', close regedit and then run the setup again.
4. Restart the machine.

Please also note that using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Microsoft Windows operating system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk.

Let me know the outcome.

Did this with no difference in results. Then they sent this in the follow up:

Error: "Fatal error during installation" with BusinessObjects XI Release 2

Symptom
When installing BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 on a computer where a beta version has been installed previously, the following error messages appear:


"Error 1713 Business Objects XI Release 2 cannot find one of its required products. Contact your technical support group."


Followed by:


"Fatal error during installation"

How do you resolve these error messages?

Resolution
To resolve these error messages, use the following steps:

1. Uninstall every Business Objects product.

2. Delete the Business Objects folder.

3. Delete HKEY\LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Business Objects and

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\SOFTWARE\Business Objects from the registry.

4. Search the registry for the string "BusinessObjects Performance Management XI Release 2" and delete the key that contains it.

Upon completing these steps, you can install BusinessObjects XI Release 2.


We removed XI R2 to install XI R1 for migration process. And this is still not resolved. Any ideas?
