Post subject: Save as Text File -- Remove tabs

Hello All,

I have created a report in full client 6.5, involving multiple data providers. When the report is saved as a text file, it outputs a tab-delimited file.Is there a way to remove the tabs between the columns while saving as a text file.

I tried concatenating the whole set of objects into a single column variable to remove tabs, but I realised that will not be of much help, as I have to be able to sort on individual columns.

Is there any way of achieving this (like free hand sql with tab off command or etc)? I would appreciate any possible suggestions to overcome this issue?

thanks in advance,
Cos

Short answer is no. Tab-delimited is the only option for exporting a report tab to text. To do anything else, the "concatenated single column" is the best workaround. Otherwise, you could resort to some "post export" processing (like VBA with ADO or something similar to remove the tabs).

As far as still being able to sort, you could include the "sortable" columns in the block, but hide them so they are not included in the export. Using Format, Sorts... you can still use the hidden items for sorting.

Thanks for the quick reply.I am including the sortable columns and hiding it.Looks like it might do it.
