I had the same error when I installed XI on a laptop that was configured to work within a corporate network, but installed it off the network. I believe the error was due to the system name not having a fully qualified network name, but I wanted it to work off the network. I got around this by stopping all services in the CCM, restared the CMS, disabled then reenabled all servers in the CCM, then restarting them all. I was able to run XI off the network after that.

I had the same error after changing the IP Address of the server.

Just stopped all servers.
Restarted CMS.
Restarted all other servers.

Kind regards

Hi guyz,

Thanks for having this post. I was getting the same error "Transport error: Communication failure. " when I tried to log in CMC or Infoview.
I had to restart all servers in CCM and the problem got solved.

Thank you again.

We have just installed BOXI on a linux server (hosted remotely). I have been developing a universe on a local windows install & I would now like to export this universe to the linux server. I can connect (using telnet to check) on port 6400 of the remote server, but whenever I use the Import Wizard on my local windows machine, or any other tool, I get the 'Communication failure' message. The BOXI linux server is listening on all interfaces on port 6400 and I can see some back and forth communication occurring when I attempt to connect when I do a packet trace.

Am I missing something? Is there some tool which lets me map a 'System' to a 'CMS Name' -- I am very new to BO, and I see these two phrases used almost interchangably.

FWIW - I can connect to the BOXI linux server over the web interface, but I don't see any way to upload a universe through the Central Management Console.

joshroot; did you solve this issue ?

I'm experiencing the exact same thing.
Also turned off all firewalls possible.. but still it does not connect.
Please share how you do your traceing of the "import wizard".

Found a solution!

What you need to do, if the server does not have a FQDN, is to do this:

Edit the command line of the CMS and specify a port number for the IP address.

On linux that command line is in ccm.config
Windows, you will find the command line in CCM -> central management server.

Example:
- Port <IP Address>:<port number>

This worked for me icon_wink.gif

The ccm.config on AIX (and Solaris, Linux etc..) is the same.

You need to go to "cmsLaunch" and look for the line "-port"

Then if is is there, you change it so it says;
(192... been the BO servers Internal IP address)

-port 192.168.1.100:6400

Hope this helps! icon_smile.gif

Hi,
Please disable your network connection and restart all ther server from ccm. Then try to logon cmc.
If its working then try to enable the network connection. It will work. Good luck...

Thanks

We just encountered and resolved the same error while trying to use Import Wizard between two CMS. For us TCP ports 1058 and 49200 needed to be allowed.
