Sunset Ride

BOB has retired moved! Our current platform (the one you are reading right now) is over 18 years old. Rather than continue here, the community has moved to a new software platform! We are excited about the move and hope that you'll come with us.

The new community URL is https://bobj-board.org/.

User accounts have not been converted. In order to participate on the new platform you will need to create a new account. Existing posts have been retroactively assigned to your user name, but are associated with an anonymous account. No personal information (email address and so on) has been transferred to the new platform.

If you have any questions, the "About BOB" forum will remain open for the remainder of 2020, at which point it will be replaced by a static page directing folks to the new community.

Thank you for your support and participation for the past 18 years.

I can't express how much I've relied on all of you folks through this forum. I suspect there are a lot of others out there that use this forum as resource but may not feel comfortable or experienced enough to offer up solutions.
As my organization tries to navigate the myriad of new tools available I firmly believe BODS will remain our most important prem to prem ETL solution for a while yet, so hopefully there will be a replacement to this forum. If so I will attempt to step up my posting game. The loss of this resource will be felt.

Thanks to all for sharing your knowledge over the years.

Perhaps it's a sign we should look for BO alternatives.
I've been interacting with the Forum since 2003.
What reasons can everyone point to that makes you keep BO around? For us, it is the only tool that can filter and send to many recipients using publications. It also handles logins using SAP Roles/LDAP and it's easy to use @Variable('BOUSER') to control what a user sees.
I'd like to hear what you think BO does that other tools can't/don't.

It's been a good run for this Forum! Thanks for all the help Gurus.

The big thing for us is tracking of user activity. The state requires us to keep track of when users view (open) various documents we keep. Also a number of our users need to keep a history (like for five years) of reports. Unfortunately we only use a small subset of the capabilities of the platform.

Does it all get archived away? Or does it disappear after August 20?

It would be sad for it to disappear. I was the QA manager and a PM for a bunch of releases.

I still am trying to explain AGGREGATE_AWARE to people today.

If ever you want to do an AMA, I would be happy to do that, and explain where the audit universe came from, why we had to go from Web 1 to WebI 2 so fast, or why WebI 2.6 was the best release ever...

I am a "newer" BOBJ user, less than 4 years old. I am finding your resource so very helpful. In particular, it is needed for those transitioning to SAP C4 Hana and still need a legacy resource.

WAOW !!

I've just noticed the General Notice saying that it is close to the end of BoB icon_sad.gif

I'm sad, because I work with BOBJ and some other tools since 2003 and since the begining BoB is my main support channel when I need any kind of info.

Sure, with experience, less needs as the product and the challenges have not changed a lot.. BUT !

Hope it will remain available for reading and that 4.3 release that will provide us brand new interface (and then challenges...) will see a BoB 2.0 raising from Bob'S ashes icon_smile.gif

All the best

I am so sad to hear this. Dave, Thanks for creating and hosting and incredibly helpful community.
Is there a way to keep the forum available online as read only. I still get help from BOB old threads. This was a great resource and threads have a wealth of first hand knowledge and experience from a lot of folks.

We can do fundraising if funds are an issue?
