Sunset Ride

BOB has retired moved! Our current platform (the one you are reading right now) is over 18 years old. Rather than continue here, the community has moved to a new software platform! We are excited about the move and hope that you'll come with us.

The new community URL is https://bobj-board.org/.

User accounts have not been converted. In order to participate on the new platform you will need to create a new account. Existing posts have been retroactively assigned to your user name, but are associated with an anonymous account. No personal information (email address and so on) has been transferred to the new platform.

If you have any questions, the "About BOB" forum will remain open for the remainder of 2020, at which point it will be replaced by a static page directing folks to the new community.

Thank you for your support and participation for the past 18 years.

BOB has truly had a great run. I think in a box in the attic I still have my "My Name is BOB" official T-Shirt!!!!

@ Dave Rathbun - I know you spoke at just about all of the Business Object User Conferences and I spoke at the first 5. I can't thank you enough for all of your effort and support of this community.

I started the North Carolina Business Objects User group with Stephanie Lyons, Bob Lang and two others I can't remember icon_sad.gif We had 100-120 people show up starting in 1998 for every other month meetings. We had sponsors like Dunn Solutions Group(Bill Dunn and Dave Piech) from Chicago, Mariner from Charlotte, and APOS - It was fun time to bring enterprise reporting to mainstream business. We were rockstars... without the money.

Best wishes to all. We did good.

Sincerely, John Vance Sullivan

Heck, I'm not even in IT any more. I restore houses now.

That sounds like a fun job. I'm a little jealous.

I smashed my left thumb and goo squirted out like toothpaste. And I had an accident with a chopsaw (I was so lucky I should have bought a lottery ticket that day). But it has been fun and a very learning experience.

I have my first renter (I'm a landlord now too!) as of last week.

Congratulations!

We have a cabin in Lake Arrowhead that we rent out for vacation rentals, coming up on 4 years. It's been a fun and rewarding experience.

So long and thanks for all the fish! icon_mrgreen.gif

FWIT, we're still very much doing BOBJ (4.3!) and Data Services (4.2 SP14) down in our far little corner of the world.

Customers have tried Tableau and Power BI but are finding that when it comes to reporting on BW/4HANA, still nothing can beat using BOBJ 4.3 or SAP Analytics Cloud.

All forums other than "About BOB" have been set to Read Only permissions as of September 1st. This forum will remain open to facilitate the discussion of the BOB 2.0 project.

As a part of this process, the Daily Digest emails have also been deactivated as of today.

Please do not post product-related questions here as they will have to be removed. Our apologies, but this is part of the plan to ultimately retire (and hopefully move) this community.

Thanks for your understanding.

And that just proves how useful this site (and by extension the accumulated wisdom of the community) really is.

I mean seriously, between all of us we have (well) over 1,000 years of experience with Business Objects.

(50 users with 10 years experience each is 500 right there)
