Post subject: Customizing (Infoview) BI Launch Pad 4.0 with Tomcat

SAP BO BI 4.0 Windows/Tomcat
After lengthy searches I finally found out how to customize the BI Launch Pad (Infoview) logon page. I had found so much contradictory information through blogs and other sites. Some stated that these customizations would not be available until SP3 or FP4, etc.... Not sure where they got there info but we found a way to make it work.

Thanks go out to Dallas Marks for his blog!

We have successfully implemented a custom logon page image banner, changed the application name, the CMS authentication visibility and the authentication methods available to the users. We have also found that custom color palettes are possible in this release.

These are fairly basic mods but still presented a challenge in this new version because the file locations moved. Of course, it's easy once you know how.

Custom Login Page Image
The default location for the Login Page Image Banner is:
<installdir>\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\work\Catalina\localhost\BOE\eclipse\plugins\webpath.InfoView\web\images
login_banner_logo.png
Rename the default image as a back up and replace the image file with a custom Image using the original name.

Custom Logon
The other mods are performed through the same "properties" file located in
<install dir>\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\default directory. To modify properties from their defaults, copy the desired properties file from the default directory to the adjacent custom directory, which is C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\custom.

The file we modified was the BILaunchpad.properties. The mods are fairly self-explanatory once you view the file.

# application name
app.name=BI launch pad (Change to your text)
app.name.greeting=BusinessObjects
app.name.short=BI launch pad (Change to your text)

# Choose whether to let the user change the CMS name
cms.visible=true

# You can specify the default Authentication types here. secEnterprise, secLDAP, secWinAD, secSAPR3
authentication.default=secEnterprise

# Choose whether to let the user change the authentication type. If it isn't shown the default authentication type from above will be used
authentication.visible=false

Custom Color Palette

There is now one chart engine for WebIntelligence, Analysis and Crystal Reports.

1. As administrator to go to the following directory on the server side C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\images
2. Find the file named VisualizationConfig.template.xml
3. Rename this file to VisualizationConfig.xml
4. Edit this file and add the color for the palette as required (RGB colors are used)
5. Check that there are no errors in the config file, otherwise the standard palette will applied you can define only one Corporate palette, and the palette ID must not be changed
6. Stop and restart Tomcat after editing the config file.

I was trying to condense this post but also wanted to pass along this information that I gathered to help others. Hopefully you won't go through what I went through!

Have you been able to replave the Business Objects logo in the standard BI LaunchPad page header? I have tried to do it by replacing the original
banner_logo.gif placed at

D:\BO\Tomcat6\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\eclipse\plugins\webpath.InfoView\web\images

(as we did previously with login_banner_logo.png) but it does not work.

Thanks

Hi,

Fallow these steps and it will be ok:
- Stop Tomcat service
- Delete tomcat cache D:\BO\Tomcat6\work\Catalina\localhost\BOE
- Restart Tomcat service

I find it appalling that they have removed the "Custom Palettes" functionality from the report side, now we have to be at the administrators mercy for creating the palettes!

any chances of going back to the old ways?

Does any one know if it is possible to add applications to the "My Applications" section. For example BCP or PCM?

Effectively after removing the D:\BO\Tomcat6\work\Catalina\localhost\BOE folder and restarting the tomact services image files areupdated, but we have followed the same procedure after changing some jsp files (i.e: D:\BO\Tomcat6\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\eclipse\plugins\webpath.InfoView\web\jsp\listing\main.jsp) and after applying above procedure generated page does not reflect changes in jsp. Has someone succesfully modified any jsp content page?

Hi all,

I've seen the blog of Marks Dallas and this topic, but i've an issue in my plateforme.

I've change the login_banner_logo, and clear the cache of tomcat
(rm -R BOE in Catalina) but when I restart tomcat, I don't seen my new logo.
I don't understand why, because, if I open the picture with a ftp client, it's well my new logo.

Could you help me please?
I've also tried to restart linux server but it's the same comportment.

Thans for your help.
Regards.

My config:
