Post subject: A bug with WebIntelligence and Java 7?

I recently upgraded the version of Java on my machine to 7 (1.7.0_01), and while WebI still works, some features do not:
The Frmatting toolbar is greyed out, and cannot be used;
The Properties tab to the left is empty, and you cannot modify the properties of any elements in the report.

I have not found any information about this bug online. Has anyone else also encountered this?

-Ethan

I hit that in the summer, uninstalled Java and let the BO app give me the correct version.

My problem with the default version of Java (6 update 3) is that for whatever reason, Hebrew characters in Webi turn up as empty squares, despite my settings in Infovew Prefernces (Product Locale set to use browser locale, which is set to Hebrew, and Preferred Viewing Locale is set to Hebrew (Israel)).

If I could find a way to overcome either the problem with Java 7 or the problem with Hebrew in Java 6, I'd be very delighted.

Java 7 is not supported by BOXI 3.1 so you should be running a Java 6 version. We had a couple users that had Java 7 after our upgrade to 3.1 SP4 and they had a lot of odd problems as well.

I wuold suggest a later version of Java 6, that may resolve your character problem.

I removed Java 7 and installed Java 6 Update 26. The problem with Hebrew is still there.

[update: mostly fixed]
Changing my product locale in Prefernces from Use Browser Locale to English now displays Hebrew characters rather than empty squares, albeit the font used is uncomfortable (small and seriffed), relative to that used by Java 7.

I am not sure if it has anything to do with font, but could you tell us which font are you using for Hebrew data?
Can you try by using Arial MS Unicode font and see the results?

Thanks,
Raghvendra

has anyone found a workaround for this.

It appears the properties tab is greyed out for no reason. Many users are not able to downgrade to 1.6.xx and must use java 7. The organization dictates that.

Has anyone found a way to make web-i work with java 7?

Does SAP BO 4.0 supports JAVA?

I will install SAP BO4.0Sp4 and need to know if Java7 is compatible with this version.

We currently have installed BO XIR2 with Java 1.6 because BO XIR2 does not support Java 7.

In PAM (document with compatibility) not specify anything about Java 7.

Thank you very much

on the Apple OS X platform with Java 7
