Hi Harshil, how are you?

Instead of explain you how to create a BIAR from import wizard, I did a search on SAP webpage and found a document about it.

Please, see this link.

If you have any question, get in touch.

You can use Import Wizard and choose the source as the .biar file.

You can only export to a BIAR file from a BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 system.
To export to a BIAR file

Open the Enterprise Repository view.
Right-click on the objects that you want to export.

Note: If you are using a working set, you can only export items that are currently being displayed.

Note: Objects inside a Favorites folder cannot be exported.
Select Export to BIAR file and specify the destination and name of the BIAR file, then click Export.

Note: If the objects being exported are big or if there are a large number of them, the export process may take a while. Do not delete anything in the Enterprise Repository view while the export is in progress.

What version are you migrating to?

If you are going from 3.1 to 3.1, use the Import Wizard.
If you are going from 3.1. to 4.x, use the Upgrade Management Tool.
If you are going from 4.x to 4.x, use Promotion Management.

Hi Mike,

Am migrating from BO XI 3.1 to BO XI 3.1. Yes, I have the idea of using IW, but as I migrate the Whole system am concerned about which all Options to choose in order to work all the Security set up perfectly.

Could you please share some idea on that?

Thanks, Jo.

I would suggest reading the Admin Guide for your version. It contains a lot of information on the Import Wizard, far too much for me to share here. However, depending on the size of your system, you might want to do it in small batches, rather than all at once. The Import Wizard tends to choke around 2 GB.

Post subject: BIAR FILE ON Windows 10

Hi,

I try to create a BIAR file and get the error message (soure, second sreen): ("Fehler beim Anmeldunden am Server (IWZ 00001)") means: Error when login. But I do not want to login but to create a biar. Import wizzard is started as Administrator, try with new or with empty biar file, check write permission...... WHAT TO DO???
