Post subject: Removing previously used universe folders from import dialog

In XIR2 When you click file > import, you are offered a list of 10 universe folders that you have previously used. These don't seem to be a rolling list of the previous 10 folders used or anything.

The last folder in the list changes to the last one used but I would like to be able to clear this list if that's possible.

Does anyone know if this can be done?

For anyone wondering how to do this I managed to find it out.

Go into your registry editor and search for the following key (note, the second folder may be named differently but it's name is a big-ass number.)

Code:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-664342396-1520592568-226259266-1165\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\default\BusinessObjects\Application Preferences\BusinessDesigner\DialogSettings\ImportExport

In this key folder, there are different folders, one for each of your repositories. I'm assuming that the names are the long IDs of the repository from the CMC.

What I did was prefixed the name of the repository folder with something, logged into each repository using designer to see which cache had cleared, then changed the prefix to the name of the repository (dev, uat, prod etc.)

When you log in and import a universe, a new registry key will be created.

Thanks for the tip! That was really somewhat annoying!

you can use HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead of the long number icon_wink.gif
so for me it was:

Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\default\BusinessObjects\Application Preferences\BusinessDesigner\DialogSettings\ImportExport

I renamed (the right) one of the subfolders and bingo! my list was empty again.

Ahhh I see. That does make a nicer key name than having a huge number in it.

Thanks mrs_bob.gif
