Does the Dataflow set any sort of locking level on the cursor? Does it set it as read only? I have a DBA asking these questions and I don't have the answers.

You mean on table readers (in a source table or a TC step), right?

I think the answer is, by default, no hints to control this. For SQL Server at least, there's a DSCONFIG setting you can use to force all readers system-wide to be dirty reads.

Yes, on the table readers. I'm not looking to hint the SQL. But if there are settings available to change the cursor mode in Oracle that's what I'm looking for. But I would still like to know what the default cursor mode is that DS uses when reading from Oracle.

Where in the DSConfig file is the setting for SQL Server? I looked for obvious items but came up empty.

I have a client that is getting errors from long running Dataflows that may indicate that the cursor is not stable.

Under [AL_Engine], an entry for:

SQLServerReadUncommitted=1

(nothing there by default)

Is there also like this at the DS (or table or Source) level?

Is there a comprehensive list of this settings en DSConfig?

It would be nice to have something like this to tweak the DI behavior. Maybe a new idea in the Idea's place.

Regards,

Andrés

In SAP/Business Objects defense, I have only had to tweak one item in the DSConfig file over the past 4 years. The reason I brought up the cursor issue could very well be a problem on the database side not the DS side. I was covering my bases just in case.

yesnod.gif It would be nice to be able to specify this as an option in your Source tables in a dataflow, yes...
