Is there a way to set a trigger to send an email notification when a report fails?

He said right. That particular section is very good and knowledgeable. Set one SMTP profile server.

Hi,

I am looking for a solution for my situation:

Is it possible that if any BO user schedules a report this user is sent an email when the report's instance is ready/finished.
When the schedule fails an email should also be sent. So, an email anyway. I do not want the report to b sent but only the schedule information (metadata).
Email information can be found in the properties of the BO user.
If there is no solution in the way I am telling it now this would be a nice feature in the new release. Give the user an extra possibility to use this (or not) in the properties of the schedule process.

In my situation as a developer my webi reports take very long to return with data so I do not want to wait for this.
So I take the schedule and start developing another report but I want a sign if the first report's instance is ready. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi,
If i understood you right then that is possible. But you need to schedule the report through CMC and set the property to send an e-mail up on success.

This feature is not available through Infoview.

Thanks

If I'm understanding the question correctly, there is no way to do what you're asking. Let me elaborate on what I think you're asking.

User A schedules a report.
1. When the report is ready, User A gets an email.
2. If the report failed, User A gets an email

User B schedules a report.
1. When the report is ready, User B gets an email.
2. If the report failed, User B gets an email

Answers:
1. This can be done by using an email destination, but don't send the report as an attachment, but it isn't automatic, the users would have to set the destination email themselves
2. This is not possible. There is a setting in the CMC to send an email if the report fails, but the email address is static, so that user (User C) would always get the email if the report failed, no matter who schedules it.

I agree, this would be nice to have a check saying "send me a success/failure notice" when scheduling, but like I mentioned, it's not really there.
