Actually, recurring instances are the only type of instance that you can promote with LCM.
Also, I was thinking a possible workaround was to use the command line tool to create biar files. My test showed that when selecting instances (dependencies), that only the latest instance would be included.
I've been told by SAP that LCM support for instances will be included in the next Service/Feature Pack.

Thank you for your response. Sounds like another good reason to wait for v4.1.

Just to clarify, there is no 4.1. The release that was going to be 4.1, will now be released next summer as 4.0 Feature Pack 3.

Thanks for the clarification. Next summer is the scheduled release date? Is that an official date? We're waiting for that SP before we upgrade.

Thanks for the update.

Next summer was announced at the conference from SAP. That date is subject to change, as usual.

Management here views conferences as unnecessary. I've got to get work "on the street"..

Thanks.

Skeygo -

Can you CONFIRM that this instances issue is only a problem when using LCM to move DEV -> TEST -> PROD in a 4.x environment.

I am assuming instance-history moves OK from a 3.x -> 4.x when using the Upgrade Tools rather than LCM, correct...?

Thanks for the update.
As usual, there is no official announcement on release date. But the date that many SAP employees are throwing around is sometime in Q1 2012. Since it is a "Feature Pack" (it is called Feature Pack 3, after the SP2 I assume) and not a "Minor Release", I expect it to be sooner than summer.

I expect it to work. But then I'm a bit of an optimist at the worst of times.

Ha! What a bad place for a typo. Yes. "word on the street" (conferences, user group meetings, BOB).

Although, we've put off our upgrade for 2 years, if SP3 doesn't come out in the summer, perhaps a career change is in order icon_lol.gif

It might be too drastic. Keep in mind that your neighbor's grass always look greener but in fact they are not. icon_smile.gif
