Release to Customer (RTC) and Ramp Up have already started.

It is fine to download BI 4.0 for testing purpose. But for production rollout, I will wait for BI 4.1. I am sticking with my general rule of thumb: never install any dot zero version of a software product.

My "guestimate" is that BI 4.1 should be available in the Fall of 2011.

p.s. the word "XI" has officially been removed from all subsequent product name. icon_biggrin.gif

As for the WAR file question, it sounds like InfoView and CMC are now combined into one web application. So instead of going to http://server/InfoViewApp/logon.jsp and http://server/CmcApp/logon.faces, you now access both using http://server/NewWebApp/infoviewlogon.jsp and http://server/NewWebApp/cmclogon.jsp.

So I'll probably have to change all our openDocument.jsp links again icon_sad.gif

Joe,

I really hope they make allowances for this yesnod.gif .
It should be part of the content migration.
If set at the universe side a relatively easy change.
However, I'm guessing, that people use the wizard and set these at report level, as it is a lot easier and uses CUIDS automatically.
The number of people that use hyperlinking and the amount of people that will, once you have explained the mechanism, are huge!
In fact, I have seen complex BOXI systems designed purely out of hyperlinked, parameterised, Webi instances. With specially designed pages just of links / menus to access these, "drilldown" e.t.c.

Cheers,

Mark.

Yeah, I had to change a bunch when we went from 6.5 to XIr2 (understandably, as the architecture was completely different), then again when we went to XI3.

Using openDocument is nice when linking into reports from outside of Infoview, but the wizard really should build forward-compatible linkages that work equally well in View and Modify modes...

Agreed, I'm sure this catches a lot of people out yesnod.gif .

It is understandable that the folder structure on Infoview is not very user friendly and many BO customers would like to customize it for better user experience. However, I always make the management aware the penalty to such customization. But hey, the more customization that management wants, the more job security we have, right? icon_biggrin.gif

Not me, personally, substring I don't always get to support what I write / suggest icon_smile.gif.
The system I outlined was designed for largely read access only, the users can just access what was given.
It was very nice, a different way of looking at things, BOXI as an information website / provider, rather than an on demand reporting tool...
However, getting the right business requirements, to write such a thing is a large undertaking, simples icon_wink.gif.

Exams for new version will not be available right after the release. For the last version it took about 1,5 years before it was available.

I just heard back from my SAP Account Manager so this is the latest regarding 4.0 release:
"It is available now thru Ramp-up program only. Won’t be available to general public before end of Q1 2011."

Reading between the lines, sounds like that June 2011 prediction is a good bet.

I'm part of the ramp-up and I've already downloaded it, but haven't installed it yet. I figured I better download it quick before they change their mind. lol.gif

I signed a NDA for the beta software, but not for Ramp-Up. icon_cool.gif

This is not true. GA is at the beginning of 2011. By June, they should be releasing the service pack 1 or possibly 2.
