I'd be very surprised if the MQ has not been posted here yet or perhaps we're a little indignant as a result of the BO ranking? Here's the link from SAS:
Gartner MQ for BI 2010
Here another with BO's challenge on the results: SAP Questions Gartner BI Magic Quadrant Ranking
Anyone remember Nigel Pendse's OLAP Report? I'm sure that I've seen it on BOB ages ago but here's a new link. Didn't we have to pay for the OLAP report in the past?

Actually, the link to Gartner's Magic Quadrant was posted on BOB here:

A little bit of search would have found that post _________________ BO: XI 3 | XI r2 | 6.x | 5.x

Good man! I searched for "Gartner" but did not find it. After your reply I tried "Gartner's" and it appeared.
If I may critique (advance apology to DR - and no response necessary), I've found the search functionality on this board a little tedious on many occasions. Perhaps the reasoning behind the methodology here is that people (users/us) familiarise themselves/ourselves more with BOB and spend more time here or perhaps that the search functionality promotes’ more accurate “hits” but my personal experience has been to use BOB less frequently of late if I don’t get an immediate “hit” and this is not to suggest that I've not found BOB very useful in the past.
Rant aside, my post was for informational purposes exclusively and by-the-by I happened upon another interesting debate about the BI paradigm shift.
SAP BO, Cognos, Mstrat days of selling to Oracle customers are over |

Thanks for posting the above article.
I agree with the author that the future of Cognos is not looking very bright. As he pointed out they don’t have their own ERP tool.
In regards to SAP, they by far have the largest customer base. So if they get their act together in terms of customer satisfaction / product integration then there is not a lot to worry about.
My no.1 priority as a BO consultant is to get some SAP BI / BW experience.
In a few years time I expect it to become mandatory to have both the SAP and the BO knowledge.
P.S.
I always use google to search this site i.e.

What I find really interesting are the newcomers Tableau software and Spotfire (which I like both from what I have seen), and the rise of Qliktech.
Been working with SAP BW/bex in conjuntion with BOE since summer of last year, cool stuff and lots to learn. _________________ A smile a day, click here

Offtopic:
Andreas, did you have any SAP knowledge before you started this project?
I am contracting and I find it very hard to get into SAP BW / BO.
Clients expect a contractor to hit the ground running and I can't blame them.
The problem is that there are very few consultants that have both skillsets.

Since I work for the mothership I happen to have great SAP BW colleagues, I also went to specific internal Championship training for BusinessObjects Integration with SAP and regulary look at tech stuff on sdn.SAP.

Off Topic: (Last time I promise!)
Beam me up to the mothership scotty!
I am seriously thinking of doing the SAP BI training course.
Last week I contacted SAP and they told me it was only 15.000 pounds to sit the full course
The problem is that there is no garuantee that anyone would hire me after I've completed the training because I don't have any hands-on experience.
As more and more SAP customers start adopting BO I hope to get my chance because eventually all the guys like yourself that know BO and SAP will be on other projects and then I will STRIKE! |
