|

Hi there,
We are currently looking into upgrading our Data Integrator 11.7 to Data Services 3.2, a part of this task is to look into the licensing options that we are going to require for the upgrade (This is managed through an external company).
Are there any resources anywhere about this that i can uses for reference whilst looking into this.
Thanks
David |

What do you mean with licensing options??? Nothing changed! Okay, you need to generate a new license key as the format changed but that's about it. _________________ Werner Daehn

Thanks for your reply.
Let me explain my point of view.
For example We used to suggest our clients depend on the available comparasions/requirements/budget between BOE XI 3.1 Proffessional and BOE XI 3.1 Premium versions. Actually the idea is What to suggest to Client according to his budget/requirments in context of BO DI?
Any suggestions? |

The difference between the versions, starting from Edge, to Starter, Professional, ... to the Analytical Package is its completeness and the CPUs.
Edge contains the full DataIntegrator, no DataQuality if I am not mistaken, and no Multiuser development and no Grid Computing and one source and one target database type. And it is limited to 4(?) CPUs. So the perfect fit where you have up to two developers building a small data warehouse.
Started Professional increase the number of database types you are allowed to use, increase the number of CPUs the server can have but still no multiuser/grid computing. And some include test/prod. So if you are building a data warehouse professionally but still with a few developers only.
Enterprise gives you pretty much everything more CPUs, all database types, multiuser, grid computing, dev/test/prod,....
But in cae you want to go with the full range of products, DataIntegrator, DataServices, Metadata Manager, Data Federator,..... instead of buying each tool separately, we bundled them into one large package at an interesting price, so that this package makes sense even if you are using just half the tools. Something along those lines.
Bear in mind, there are some variations of the above, when is DataQuality included, when do you have to add it as option. And there are some special packages for isolated needs, e.g. you need DataQuality alone. _________________ Werner Daehn

Thanks Wdaehn for your time & support.
Your post is really helpful for us. I hope if SAP BO has a sort of organized Document that discuss these licensing options/comparisions for SAP BO DI in more detail (May be by a matrix etc). Kindly do share if you able to get some information in this asspect.

On the SAP website under Data Services there they have listed the telephone no.s or email where to contact. Give them a call, send an email and they will respond back.
They have different options and beleive me they are flexible in their pricing and they will be glad to assist you |

| I do think SAP should be more transparent about what the bundles include at each level. This should be a PDF on the SAP web site, IMO... |

Hi Werner and all Data Integration evangelist,
Requesting you to share your views and suggestion on SAP Blogs or Wikki so that it can be accessible.
Because it is always felt the transparecy of licensing. _________________ Thanks,

An article of some kind that explains the licensing options - was my understanding. _________________ Werner Daehn
