Before you run off and download and deploy you need to check what FP of 3.1 you are on.
This service pack only covers up to and including FP1.5. Notice the Emoticons used, yes folks you read it right FP 1.5.
So, if you have FP 1.6 installed DO NOT LOAD THIS SP, you need to wait for the 2.x FP to come out to catch things up.
From the Fixed Issues Guide:
"This Service Pack includes all XI 3.1 FixPacks up to 1.5. Note If you install XI 3.1 SP2 in top of FixPack 1.6 or later, reinstall the
latest 2.x FixPack."
Link to Fixed Issues guide: https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1356690
Now I wonder who made this wonderful decision. Issue a SP logic would say it covers all CURRENT FP since SP1..... _________________ Thomas Nather

Ta for the headsup - so to get the proposed new ''bells and whistles'' you have to re-apply the latest fixes ... interesting choice, I guess it's best to wait form someone else to see if it actually works thereafter _________________ Image linkImage linkImage linkImage link |

A ServicePack has to be developed, there has to be cut-off date for what "features", bug fixes, etc. will be included. So it has been this way for quite some time, and as long as it is stated clearly, which previously FixPacks are covered, that is fine with me.
Now, I have to say I do not know what exactly is included with FixPack 1.6 anyway _________________ A smile a day, click here

Thanks for the update.
I've been waiting on SP2 for quite some time as we're currently platformed with XIr2 SP4 and want to go straight up to r3SP2.
I must remember not to install any 1.x fixpacks once SP2 is in place, and wait for FP2.x instead.
Nothing is ever straighforward with BO/SAP. Makes me wonder why I bothered waiting for SP2 if SP1:FP1.5 more or less does the same job |

Because BOE XI R3 SP2 offers loads of new functionality/features!
See here for some details.
Note:
Bad decision to post BOE XI R3 SP2 under BOE XI R3.1 _________________ A smile a day, click here

Actually now I think about it, I may have been a little premature here. I was actually looking for Release 3.2 rather than Release 3.1 SP2. I had heard 3.2 was due to be released this quarter. I think I got a little over excited on this occasion, when in actual fact it is only a SP upgrade for 3.1.
Don't know whether to go with 3.1 SP2 now, or wait until later in the qtr for 3.2 |

In Fix Pack 1.7 is a critical hot fix to Qaaws to fix a timeout issue.
Also, this is 3.1 so post to 3.1....The post in SAP world shows 3.1 _________________ Thomas Nather

Hi
Yes, the latest SP2 is available on the SAP Support site, but it took about 90 minutes to install the Sp2 on my system....strange. Usually it takes up to 20 or smth like that with the previous release - XIR2..
Os:Windows ; CPU : Core2Duo , 8gb of memory....
How about others _________________ Data Warehousing, BO 6.1- XI 3.2/Crystal/EPM, DI 11.5 - DataServices 3.2, Data Federator XI 3.1, Polestar, BEX to WebI\Crystal migration. And little bit of SAP BPC, Xcelsius, ABC (Activity Base costing), Open BI source solutions |

You are lucky ! Yesterday, It took us very more time to patch our Proof Of Concept platform !!
Started at 8PM yesterday, it has been completed according to the BOE_SP2_Install_0.log file at 4AM this morning : Then, approximatively 8 hours to complete _________________ Bernard TIMBAL DUCLAUX de MARTIN

Hint: Turn off the Anti Virus software and you will shave off about 50% of the install time. _________________ Thomas Nather

For my client, there is an important fix in 1.6 about WebI refresh, Prompts and row level restriction: ADAPT01215611.
I've not tested the fixpacks yet but what I can say is Bug Fixes are more importants than improvements so I guess the interesting new functionalities will wait on the bench for a little longer. _________________ BO 5.1, BO 6.1, BOE XI R2, BOE XI 3.1 |

So if I install SP2 then I will have regressed any issues that FP1.7 has addressed with Qaaws?
If SP2 covers only up to FP 1.5 what new features are available with SP2 that would warrant the installation of SP2 once we have just compeleted the FP1.7 installation in our production environment? _________________ Michael P. Goo
