|

I'm using a BusObj6.5 client, and I need to edit a report that has VBA macros. When I download the report from our server, BO promts me that I won't be able to run the report since I don't have VBA installed. Is this a download that I can get from BusinessObjects? Please let me know where and how I can install this as part of my BusinessObjects6.5 client. By the way, I installed BO from a shared installation (BO server). Thanks!!!!!

You must insert the BO CD again and then select VBA and install it...

This (my client BO software) was an install from our BO server. Is there a way for me to download this add-in from BO website, or is our BO admin (the only one /w the cd) my only option? Thanks!

You cannot install from BO Website...Basically, when you install ,it will ask you to select the tools (Reporter,Designer,VBA...) you need to install and selected tools will get installed in your machine....I think,VBA option was unchecked when you installed it...

Moving from Reporter (for questions about building queries/reports), since this is more of an installation issue.
When you say this was a from a shared installation (BO server) -- do you mean a shared file server, or is this a ZABO installation from a WebIntelligence server? _________________ Anita Craig Image link

I'm reluctant to say anything since I'm not particularly sure, but my best guess is that it's an installation from a webintelligence webserver. Can you ->(ANITA) explain to me what's going on (OR ANYONE ELSE)?

If the installation was done from InfoView ... known as a ZABO installation ... there is a specific step that asks to install VBA support. It's a relatively common occurence that users fail to include VBA support when doing a ZABO installation. _________________ Dwayne Hoffpauir

It is an infoview installation; however, it doesnt provide me that option during the installation. I reinstalled it so that I could check...and no, it's not an option during the installation. What else could it be...?

I have seen occasions where getting VBA support installed has been problematic. There are some manual install procedures floating around, but their success was hit or miss as well. For those rare occasions where VBA install was a problem, it was easier to simply re-image the machine.
The other possibility is a Supervisor restriction. In the Programmability section of the BusinessObjects command restrictions, there is a setting that controls whether VBA is downloaded as part of the ZABO installation. Have you tried on another PC? That would determine whether it is a Supervisor issue, or a workstation issue. _________________ Dwayne Hoffpauir

Yes, you solved my problem! Thanks! It was the Supervisor setting. After setting it to '1' or enable and redownloading the installation, I was able to work with the VBA macro. Thanks once more!!

I'm sure glad Dwayne answered you -- I've been swamped and haven't been on much. It's always good to just reply with your question, and hope that someone (not necessarily the previous respondent) can continue the thread -- not one particular participant! _________________ Anita Craig Image link

Is the same option available in BO XI R2 install (include VBA)?
My external PC support team keep re-installing XI without the VBA code, and I've no experience of the install myself to advise them. _________________ --------------------------------------------------
