It depends - but allow me to ask a few questions first:

1. If you have a BO server installation: is your BO server install on Windows or Unix? Because, typically Merant is only used in Unix deployments.

2. What database type are you connecting to (for example: MS SQL 2005)

Actually, that's it.

If you do happen to need Merant drivers, then I believe BO comes with a xx-days license, after which you will need to buy the proper driver from data direct.

Which driver are you trying to use? If you try to use another app with the DataDirect (Merant) drivers which Crystal installs it will also give you a license error.

Some of the drivers have .lic license files, maybe one of those has dissapeared.

if you are using oracle just install the oracle client and while installing it you will find the option to install the oracle odbc drivers.

personally I use the oracle client and not the odbc drivers, from oracle or merant. merant claimed that the wire protocal odbc drivers were faster but in my own testing I was never able to prove it.

I am using the data direct driver for Oracle. I am experiencing an error message that I have not come across before.

In our XIR2 implementation we are running on a 32bit Windows OS and we have gone to XI 3.1 on a 64 bit OS. According to BO Tech support we have to use these 3rd party drivers from DataDirect or down grade to a 32bit OS.

I have not had to use the data direct drivers before to get these CR to work. In summary XI R2 works fine but XI 3.1 it is crapin' out.

Any ideas?

I found the issue. Crystal Reports is not supported on a x64 OS. You can install the 3rd party drivers for Crystal Reports from Datadirect but you still will recieve weird issues. When I went to repeat the same steps on my XP machine versus my Windows Server 2003 x64 machine Crystal worked as expected.

In Summary the client does not work or acts werid on a x64 bit OS even with the Datadirect drivers installed.

Yes. When running hte report view InfoView the reports works fine including scheduling them.

The issue is with the Crystal Reports Designer client tool on a x64 OS. I suspect, but have not tested, this would be true for Vista and Xp 64 bit OS and is not isolated to server edition OS'.

I am using Crystal reports XI and connecting to an ORACLE 10g database
through Oracle provider for OLE DB.

I get error

Description : ORA -06550 Line 1 Column 7
PLS 00306 wrong number of types or arguments to the "Strored Procedure Name"

Which driver should I use to connect to the oracle database?
