Is it a new feature that the BOB Daily Digest doesn't work anymore?

Yesterday and Today's emails had 0 posts in all topics.

Not intended to be icon_biggrin.gif !!! Our illustrious leader / sys admin / DBA / all around good guy is aware of the issue. Thanks for reporting it.

Long story short:

The digest failed because the daily stats were not updated.
The daily stats were not updated because the page view counter table was missing.
The page view counter table was missing because we got a new one with the new sponsor system.

As a result, no digest content was delivered. icon_smile.gif It was an oversite on my part, and I do apologize for that. Sunday is a non-issue, as the board was offline the entire day and therefore there were no posts. I have fixed the digest process and have tested it by running a digest for yesterday for myself only. So the final question is, should I resend the digests for Monday?

I can live without a repost, I just wasn't sure if this was intended or not!

Thanks for the update.

It was not intentional. I stopped using the digest some time ago, and as a result I simply forgot to test that this weekend. icon_redface.gif

Sunday had zero posts as the board was offline the entire day. Fortunately the digest code was written to recover from this sort of thing, and we have resent the digest from Monday. The format / style of the HTML digest is not going to match the new look of the board for a while, until we have a chance to update it.

My apologies for the issue. Please let us know if there are further problems with the digest tomorrow.

Here's another minor issue I've noticed. Perviously, when making a new post, the text box would have the blinking insertion point already there. Now I have to click in the text box before I can start typing.

That is by design and not an oversite. It was done to correct this:

OK, not a big deal. It just adds one more click to the process, which means that I'll have fewer clicks to pass down to my grandchildren when I die. icon_rolleyes.gif

It's on my list to change the code so that a post sets the focus and a topic review does not. I know how to do it, it's just that my list is several pages long, and this is near the bottom. icon_smile.gif

This is done on Beta BOB but will not be copied here until I get some other bug fixes applied as well. Just wanted to let you know that it's coming. icon_smile.gif

[Edit] It's here. I only tested in IE, so please let me know if it does not work the way you expected. What should happen is if you preview the cursor does not focus back to a text area. If you start posting, it should start with the cursor in the first empty area, either the subject (on a new topic) or the message body (on a reply). [/Edit]

Dave,
First of all kudos to you for giving a new look and feel to BOB!

Wanted to know if this feature of the notes being added to a post even when no one replies to it. Previously the 'Last edited' use to show up only when someone already replied to a post.
Not a problem though.

Haven't decided quite how that should work yet. icon_smile.gif

In the original code the logic went like this:
Code:
if user = original posting user AND post != last post in topic AND user edited post = TRUE then store edit info

What this meant was... if you are editing the last post in a topic, no edit history was saved. If someone else (a moderator, for instance) edited your post at any time then no edit info was saved. So the primary intent of tracking edit info is to capture any edits by someone else, as that's not a standard feature of phpBB.

As a side effect it captures all edits from any user, even the original poster, and even when the post is the last post in the topic.

I am not concerned about database space or processing time. icon_smile.gif

Is there a concern that you have, other than "it's different than before"? I am more than willing to take your input. icon_smile.gif
