Post subject: Alignment Issues - Multiple Crosstab/Vertical Column report

I'm having an alignment issue that I hope someone can help me with.

The report consists of 4 cross tab blocks (quarterly months with a quarter to date total) and one vertical column block that has YTD, YTD Budget, Variance and Prior YTD values. P&L Roll-up categories are on the left header of the cross-tab blocks and the leftmost column of the vertical column block using a field which holds the rollup name as a dimension.

The 4 quarterly blocks are working fine, however the vertical column block is reporting more dimension values than the quarterly cross tabs, throwing off the alignment of the blocks. I think the root cause is that more roll-up were used in the prior year than the current year, however even removing the prior year column is not correcting the issue.

I have played around with the include "show rows with empty measures" "Show Rows with empty dimensions" checkboxes to no avail.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

What about select block, right click, choose align and then align to other blocks
Top left block is aligned to the page and all other blocks are aligned to it

Mick,

Thanks for the suggestion, but the blocks are pulling in different numbers of rows, and I need the measures to be the same for the report to be read across.

Can you show an example maybe screenshot or excel sheet? Show what it's doing and then explain what you want it to do.

A sample is attached. The group on the left is as the report presently appears, the one on the right has some hidden columns revealed to show what's happening.

The right block with Total 2013, 2013 Plan and 2012 data is showing more rows than the block on the right with Q1 trending. I want both blocks to show the same number of rows with the same dimensions.

I hope that's coming across as clear as it is in my head icon_smile.gif

are they coming from the same query? I guess what I'm getting at there is that if the data source is returning those dimension values with 0 values for the measures then the potential exists for them to be displayed unless you filter them off somehow. You could create a variable maybe that says if the measures are all null or 0 then return a 1 and use a filter to exclude the 1 values or something like that.
