Cris, unfortunately SharePoint integration (first the PIK and then IPOINT) were not introduced until XI 3.1 was released. Initially the PIK was introduced to supplement some user requests for integration, and then it became clear that integrating with SharePoint would be a wise investment to make -- therefore the current IPOINT version was released which is more robust, and continues to be expanded with each service pack release. SP3 should introduce even more features. There currently isn't an integration option for SharePoint in XI R2 as far as I'm aware.
Also, BOE XI R2 goes into extended maintenance in June of this year, and support officially ends for XI R2 in June of 2011. I assume that affects Crystal Server as well?
My suggestion would to begin investigating XI 3.1 and the new feature sets if you wish to begin integrating with SharePoint.
Eventually with the release of 4.0 or "Aurora", a 64-bit .NET SDK should be available -- hopefully by Q4 which is key because 64-bit support is introduced with MS SharePoint 2010 and the current BOE .NET SDK (which IPOINT is heavily based on) is in 32-bit only. _________________ SAP Certified Application Associate:

I was guessing along your lines before I posted, but you never know when you'll stumble across one of those "Of course it'll work. It's just four pounds of javascript and a marketing campaign. Try this command line switch."
As far as moving up from CRS XIr2, I don't think our CFO buys enough lotto tickets to make this practical. Perhaps if we all trekked across the highway and donated plasma.... |

Hey guys.
Im quite new on the BO World.. and Im still having problems understanding some tools.
Simple question: I have ONLY CRS 2008 V1. Which one should I use iPONT or PIK??? Or both are compatible with CRS 2008 V1?

As stated above, currently the only supported version that the SharePoint integration kit can leverage is SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. This means Crystal Reports Server is not supported as far as my knowledge.
I've proofed out Edge working, but only with Java InfoView as it doesn't work with WACS -- and true SSO appears to only be officially supported with the .NET flavor of InfoView (which doesn't exist in Edge). _________________ SAP Certified Application Associate:

Hey!
That is a bad news for me...
I was counting at least installting the PIK once that yesterday I found this statement on SAP download site:
"NOTE: SharePoint Portal Integration Kits are also compatible with Crystal Reports Server as follows:
For Crystal Reports Server XI R2, use BusinessObjects XI Release 2 integration kits.
For Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1, use BusinessObjects XI 3.1 integration kits"
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/enterprise?rid=/webcontent/uuid/503988db-58c5-2b10-f79d-cb96700417f9
I will spend cuple more hours trying to install at least the PIK and I will post the results..But another question: Do you know where I can download the BusinessObject Enterprise XI .NET SDK, or could some one make it available for download?
Tks! |

Thanks for posting that Alex. I know with BOBJ Enterprise XI 3.1 that you can do a custom install with the standard client+server installation package and pick the .NET SDK out of that. I would assume if Crystal Reports 2008 Server has .NET InfoView, it may have a similar way to cherry pick it out of the standard installation? _________________ SAP Certified Application Associate:

Hey! As promised here it goes my conclusion on this extensive research on BOBJ world:
I've been talking a lot with SAP guys and I was told that I could use the Integration Option + CRS 2008 VS1 + MOSS. And Indeed I manage to do that.
But the only problem is that my SharePoint 2007 SP2 and CRS 2008 were in different machines. For this I had to install the full CRS on the SharePoint server and then the Integration Option, even though I would point the Integration Option to access another CRS serve. Looks like that I needed to do that full CRS installation because some DLLs that the Integration Option installation doesn’t bring. But afterwards I stopped this CRS on the MOSS machine…
Also I was able to use WSS with the CRS 2008 + Integration Options. Of course when using CRS, some web part from the packaged won’t work, but still the basic WP are working fine.
But I still think that there is along path to make those web parts and this whole integration platform quite mature.. I have been fighting a lot with SAP guys because my scenario it’s a little bit complex and then I start to find a lot of inflexibility on the Integration Option architecture..
Now I will play around trying to configure windows authentication for this Web parts
Hope it helps!

Hi,
I seemed to have been able to install iPoint successfully, but when I add any webpart, all I get is the black banner file named _layouts/BOBJResources/Images/login_banner_center.gif. For the Content Explorer webpart, I also get a Log On button under the banner. And If I click this button, I get a 404 error.
We have BOE XI 3.1 and MOSS 2007 on separate servers.
This the order of my installs on the SharePoint server:
-MOSS 2007
-.NET SDK and .NET WCA
-Integration Option for MS SharePoint
We have Windows AD as the Authentication Mode on the BO server.
\What may be the cause?
Thanks in advance for any assistance. |

Hey!
Check on the features for your site, if you have a feature called "BusinessObject logon" activated.
This feature deploys a single page to your site (Web) that is needed to the login process

Hi Mr. Riddle, some time ago I sent you an email (the address provided in your presentation) with some questions about PIK/iPoint and a request to sent me the best practices solution as referred to in the presentation, but I never got an answer. Has your e-mail address changed? |

Have you tried to add a new webpart? In this screenshot, you can't see whether the BO webparts are available or not. |

The installation instructions on BOE XI 3.1 SP3 SP 2007 integration kit is not clear if we need just WSS 3.0 or if we need MOSS 2007. Just trying to find out if WSS 3.0 and SP2007 enough or is MOSS 2007 required.
Thank you Eric Barfield |
