Post subject: Multivalue error in WEBI but not in DESKI

hi all,

Here is my issue I have DESKI report and now we are trying to convert into WEBI ,in deski ihave a free hand SQL as one of the 4 Dataproviders with a detail object in it

i copied the sql into a derived table and pulled it into my webi report in the same way but i am getting a multi value error when i used the detail object against the dimension .This is happening only in WEBI not in deski

i am using the WEBI xir3.1 with service pack3

please help me in removing this multivalue error

Thanks
Pavan. banghead.gif

Hi,
Have you merged the dataproviders ? and have you checked to see if there are any multiple detail values for each dimension value that you have merged ? Try by enabling the Extended Merge dimensions values option in document properties.
The way webi works is different ot Deski. I would suggest you to go through the Webi or Webi rich client Help doc and search for Merged dimensions. You will have lot of good stuff that you need to be aware of while migrating deski to webi.

Thanks

Because Deski is brain dead. icon_smile.gif

Seriously, there are things that Deski lets you get away with that Webi enforces more rigorously. If the calculation was wrong before, but you were "getting away with it", it does not make it right.

Yes, as Dave says, the logic is different between the two.

Webi enforces that the detail must be in a 1:1 relationship with it's associated dimension. Deski never enforced this.

I had a similar report recently and ended up rewriting it slighly to have a section, which forced the value in the table to be in the required 1:1 relationship. Maybe you can do something similar in your report ?

Hi I resolved it by updating the table property - "Avoid duplicate row aggregation" as checked. Let me know how it goes.
