how can it be possible ? if was added in fix pack or you were beta-testors ? | I think Namlemez means that they've been asked 'Can you do it' and have had to say 'No'. Not any more!
The introduction of folding could be the final nail in the coffin for Deski |
Not for me. Being able to fully emulate the pivot functionality within format table/crosstab would be needed first.
Thanks for the information Bernard. _________________ Next available for contract work: October 2010

BusinessObjects XI 3.1 Service Pack 2
I'm confused. Isn't this "XI 3.2", or maybe "XI 3 Service Pack 2"? |

Installed SP2 yesterday. It took 7 hours!!! (In VMWare though). There seems to be a bug in the setup on the screen where it say's "validating install..". This seems to consume 100% of the CPU and it takes hours before is starts copying the new files etc...
After that I checked the fold/unfold function as this is a feature which all of our former DeskI-customers missed in WebI.
In the JSP-version (Tomcat/Apache) the fold/unfold functionality (previously known as outline) works for sections and breaks in WebI Rich Client and also in Infoview Interactive Viewing. Without Interactive Viewing the fold/unfold functionality works only for sections in Infoview.
The .NET version has no Interactive Viewing, so you can't use the fold/unfold functionality. It also doesn't work for sections, so this functionality is totally missing in the .NET Infoview.
The Java Report Panel and the WebI Rich Client has all the functionality. You see the differences when you VIEW the reports in Infoview.
Furthermore, the input controls seems to be a list of radio buttons / pick lists, so users can set filters more easily. The what's new guide says you can use it for what-if analysis, but I don't know how 'setting filters' works in combination with what-if analysis....

yes, absolutely the same beaviour like me. Other people suggested to turn off the antivirus software before running the setup... _________________ Bernard TIMBAL DUCLAUX de MARTIN

The Release Notes address the slow installation problem. It suggests running a silent install.

Hi All,
I think silent install only helps if the wizard is slow and not the installation itself. I tried normal and silent install, both took 7 hours with one language installed! I also tested in a multilingual environment, it took 18 hours!!! Both normal and silent. I turned off everything that could use the systems (antivirus, backup softwares, etc). Incredibly unacceptable.... Does anyone have any suggestion what the reason can be? _________________ Bano

Hi Guys,
I had to cancel the installation on our DEV box after 18 hours.
Does anyone know if BO will release a more stable release of SP2.
Because an 18 hour installation of a service pack seems to be totally unacceptable for me.
We simply cannot have the DEv box down for that long. |

You are right RGeurts, not mentioning production!
I did not find the reference mentioned here about the fixpack. Nick, have you found it?
Anyway, is not a fixpack for an already installed component? That would not help us here... Or I might be just lost somewhere in the not-SAPBO-Universe _________________ Bano
