BO 4.1 LaunchPad web page stopped working for a few users.

changing machine is not helped here. issue is occurring in all browsers. users from the same group who are from same location / network doesn't have issue.

only 8-10 users facing this issue. we faced similar issue a year ago which is fixed after we increased maxHttpHeaderSize to 65536.

issue started reappearing after we rebuild the tomcat a month ago to fix google chrome issue. after rebuilding we validated the folders and files as well.

If you rebuilt the tomcat servers, did you check that you had set the maxHttpHeaderSize back to 65536 again?

You need to test if it's the user account, or the user location/pc that is the issue.

Can a user that is having trouble logon from a machine where someone else is getting in OK?

yes. validated the maxHttpHeaderSize and it is 65536 in both tomcat servers.

Tested and found that user who is having issue facing the same issue in different machine.

we have this set in both tomcats.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters\

Max value to set: 16777216

do we need this to set in App servers as well ?

I always do it by editing the server.xml file in the Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat\conf directory.

Change the following line

Can user's able to login into client tools(Rich client or IDT) who are having an issue with BI Launchpad?

Also, check the event viewer logs at each of the server levels to see if you can get additional information on this issue.

Did you try (IE, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox) browsers?

You can try to login as that user who is having an issue as Enterprise User into BI Launchpad and see if still getting that error.

users do not have access to client tools. Tried in different browsers. no luck.

BI link was throwing page not found error. https://www.yybi4.yyy.com/BOE/BI

However, when used with IP address https://x.xxx.xxx.xx/BOE/BI, it doesn't throw error but asks for login. Tested changing user's authentication mode in CMC and with a temp password, they were able to login using ip address link https://x.xxx.xxx.xx/BOE/BI.

for some of the users, removing cache fixed this issue.

Ok. You are using IP address of which server(node1 or node2 or Load balancing URL IP address)?

Is Single Sign On(SSO) implemented?.

Tried with node 1 (one of the tomcat web server's ip address).

yes. only a little no of users are having this issue.

Ok. I think, Users can able to login using Node1/Node2 URL but having an issue with load balancing URL.

Need to figure it out user group of the user's who are having an issue and then working with server/networking team to see if that user group have access to Load balancing URL or not.

sure. will check with the network. however, what I wonder is - how these users were able to access the common url all these years with out any issue ? how cache removal is fixed this issue for some users ? I cannot figure it out.

a solution that worked with 4 users:

switching the authentication from windows to enterprise and then back to windows. remove cache.

after this users were able to run reports. however, still another 3 users facing the issue even after above steps.

If users using same URL (load balancing URL) for all of these years and if there is an upgrade happened in between, then User who bookmark this URL will get error when login or when running report only in Chrome browser. This happen to me when upgraded to 4.2 sp6 from 4.1. The solution was when user using chrome(SSO not implemented in chrome) then on the login page, system name was pointing to older version of BI(4.1) because of the browser cache THEN after changing system name to 4.2(node 1 or node2) then user's were able login without issues and can able to reports. Next time when user login then system name remains the same(pointing to 4.2). OR Deleting the browser cache also works.

Check to see Windows AD group of these 3 users have access to BI URLs(load balancing).

Irrespective of browser, these 3 users are having issue. they did not book mark the url. we didn't upgraded since 6 months and these users were not having issues until last month. removing cache did not worked for these.


checked and these users do have access to BI URLs(load balancing).
