My client went 4.1 SP8 to 4.2 SP5. We've not encountered many bugs. Some reports have 2000 lines of freehand sql and they are fine. I would say, though, that you have to use the Java Applet with any freehand sql. Using the HTML viewer just doesn't work when validating or saving the SQL after a change. There is a niggle with scheduling, I've just seen one or two examples of a schedule that should kick off at a quiet time being delayed....we're monitoring that at the moment. We were getting core exception error at random, one or two a day, but that is seemingly resolved with -RequestTimeout 3600000. I like the server group exclusivity and also parallel queries on WIPS. |

Been on SAP BI 4.2 SP6 for a couple weeks now and seems relatively more stable than SP5. |

I forgot to say...the biggest problem with 4.2 SP5 was the promotion management wizard....it promoted content without issue but made a right pig's ear of the security on folders, user groups etc. So painful but not actually a problem post migration |

Just to add that we are testing 4.2 SP5 Patch 600. Seems mostly ok but we have found an issue with the scheduling Delivery Rule 'The scheduled content contains data'. Every time it is used the scheduled report fails, even if it does contain data.
Given the number of schedules and publications that users have created we are now looking at testing SP6 instead. |

Hi guys, which patch version of SAP BI 4.2 SP6 you guys had most success with? Any issues that were encountered during testing.
Looking to test 4.2 SP4 P12 or 4.2 SP6 Latest Patch |

Hi
we are testing 4.2 SP6 Patch 200. So far we haven't encountered any errors but still a bit of testing to do. One of the things we wanted was a move away from was the reliance on Flash for Crystal 4 Enterprise prompts, which SP6 offers. Not sure I entirely like the non-Flash option - it's a much bigger prompt box and it displays the parameter name in the header, which won't mean much to users but at least it is an option in Preferences rather than mandatory. So far so good though with SP6 generally.
Would be interested to hear whether anyone else has had problems with it.....
thanks |

We came across what turned out to be a known issue in 4.2 SP6 Patch 200 in that Dashboards using Flash no longer work. We have abandoned SP6 for the moment and are now testing 4.2 SP5 Patch 700. |

Dec 20, there are two ways to take:
SP5 patch 700
and
SP6 patch 400
I really appreciate your comments on this. unfortunally SAP is creating software without the quality expected, so we must help each other looking for stability and time saving.
thanks in advance. |

Thanks - I will continue to post any issues we find to this thread and to let others know when we find what we believe to be a stable version and continue to appreciate when others do the same. We are planning to go Live with 4.2 SP 5 Patch 700, which also seems stable to us at the moment. |

Planning to migrate from XI 4.1 sp 7 to 4.2 .After the reading this topic I am not sure which sp should we migrate. We are on SQl server 2008 ,Universes are on UDT(may move to IDT shortly) and reports are generated on Webi. Also some reports are scheduled and published to end users. Please guide. |

I still using SP5. But be careful with SP7 because already release 2 patches and 1 hotfix in less than 3 months
maybe someone has tested SP5 patch 1000 and can share some information.
